About the project:
An AI research lab is building a consented dataset of real US consumer finance data, to train a model that understands different financial situations and needs. You take part by exporting data from finance apps you already use, redacting it with a tool that runs on your own computer, and submitting the redacted files.

What you would do:
Sign up and onboard on the client’s platform, then watch a short demo walkthrough
Export your own transaction data from the finance apps you use
Run every export through the provided redaction tool, which runs locally on your device and masks personal and bank identifiers before anything is uploaded
Review the redacted output yourself, then submit and track approval status

What you need to submit:
At least one app export from each of five mandatory categories: banking, credit cards, payments and wallets (PayPal, Venmo, Cash App), credit score or credit report (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion, myFICO), and tax filing (TurboTax, IRS.gov or similar)
At least two further apps from optional categories: investing, budgeting, crypto, lending and BNPL, student loans, mortgage, insurance, payroll, retirement
Two financial documents you have created yourself, for example a budget spreadsheet, tax workbook or net worth tracker
Real, current data: your most recent transaction within the last 60 days. Screenshots, synthetic or AI-generated files, and login credentials are not accepted

Who this suits:
US resident, aged 18 or over
Regular user of finance apps across several of the categories above, with a regular income stream
Comfortable exporting your own data and working through a guided process independently

How your data is handled:
Redaction happens on your own device. Raw files never leave your computer
No account credentials and no live account connections are ever collected
Every submission is checked automatically, then by a human reviewer, for any remaining personal information
If a submission is not approved it is deleted rather than used, and a certificate of destruction is issued

Pay and timeline:
$350 on final approval of a complete submission
Roughly two weeks of work from kick-off, with rolling submissions and payouts
Partial or duplicate submissions do not qualify
