Detailed Animated Group Illustration in a Personalised Gaming Room

I am commissioning a personal Christmas gift: a full-colour digital illustration of three friends as recognisable, stylised cartoon characters in a detailed gaming room. The environment is as important as the characters, with gaming setups, shelves, furniture, decorations, and many personalised props and hidden easter eggs based on shared games, running jokes, and memories. Each person should also have a small companion based on their favourite One Piece character, without making the overall artwork One Piece-themed or using that art style.

I can provide reference photos, a detailed list of requested objects and easter eggs, and visual references. I would like the artist to bring creative input on composition and perspective so the characters interact naturally rather than posing. The final artwork must be high resolution for professional printing and framing, and completed in time for Christmas.

I’m looking for a warm, animated/cartoon illustration style with strong environmental storytelling. The most important reference point is a highly detailed, lived-in gaming room/bedroom illustration — lots of shelves, gaming equipment, furniture, decorations and small objects that can be used to hide personalised easter eggs throughout the scene.

I’m not looking for a realistic portrait or a simple character illustration with a basic background. The room itself is a major part of the artwork. Think detailed animated-film/graphic-novel environment, with three recognisable stylised characters naturally interacting within it.

About the client
I’m based in Brisbane, Australia and I’m looking to commission a very personal Christmas gift for my two best friends. We’ve been friends for around 10 years and gaming has been a huge part of our friendship, so I’m hoping to create an illustration that captures a lot of those memories in one detailed scene. I have a clear idea of the overall concept and plenty of reference material, but I’m also very happy to give the artist creative freedom with the composition and design.
