Job Description

AgileEngine is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and evolve large-scale cloud-native systems in Java. The role involves contributing to architectural decisions across microservices, serverless, and event-driven architectures. The candidate will drive technical initiatives from requirements to production, mentor engineers, optimize performance at scale, and integrate AI-assisted development tools into engineering workflows. This role combines strong coding expertise with distributed systems thinking and technical leadership across cross-functional teams.

Requirements

MUST HAVES

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience developing enterprise-grade software using Java or another modern object-oriented programming language
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, Algorithms, Data Structures, and Design Patterns
• Experience designing and building Distributed Systems in cloud-native environments
• Experience with modern application architecture, including Microservices, Serverless, and Event-Driven Architecture
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices
• Experience identifying and optimizing performance bottlenecks in large-scale applications
• Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring software engineers
• Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture
• Experience integrating AI capabilities or AI-assisted development tools within software engineering workflows
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across distributed engineering teams
• Upper-intermediate English level

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience with AWS cloud services
• Experience with modern database technologies
• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, or similar observability platforms
• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or intelligent workflow orchestration
• Experience with Amazon Q, Claude, Kiro, or similar AI development tools
• Experience building internal developer tools and engineering platforms
• Experience working on enterprise SaaS platforms
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
