Job Description

We are seeking an experienced freelance SEO & AI Search Specialist to help improve the organic search visibility, website traffic, and lead generation of multiple automotive dealership websites. This role will focus on traditional SEO, local search, technical optimization, and emerging AI-driven search platforms. The ideal candidate understands where search is headed and can help dealerships build visibility not only in traditional Google results, but also across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other generative search platforms.

Requirements

• 3+ years of SEO experience
• Experience with local SEO and multi-location businesses
• Automotive/dealership SEO experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of Google Search and modern SEO best practices
• Experience with AI Search / GEO / Generative Engine Optimization
• Experience with Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console
• Familiarity with SEO tools such as Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, BrightLocal, or similar
• Understanding of technical SEO and structured data/schema
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to clearly explain recommendations to non-SEO professionals
• Proven track record of increasing organic visibility and/or qualified traffic

What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute SEO strategies for multiple automotive dealership websites
• Conduct keyword research focused on vehicle models, inventory, dealership services, finance, leasing, and local searches
• Identify opportunities to increase organic traffic and qualified leads
• Optimize website content, landing pages, vehicle/model pages, and service content
• Develop strategies for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and AI search visibility
• Optimize content for Google AI Overviews and other AI-powered search platforms
• Conduct technical SEO audits and identify opportunities for improvement
• Optimize local SEO and Google Business Profiles
• Improve internal linking, structured data/schema, metadata, and site architecture
• Monitor Google Search Console and GA4 performance
• Track rankings, organic traffic, conversions, and other KPIs
• Provide monthly reporting and actionable recommendations
• Stay current with changes in Google algorithms, AI search, and the evolving search landscape

Bonus

• Experience with Dealer.com, DealerOn, CDK, Cars.com, or other automotive website platforms
• Experience optimizing dealership inventory and model pages
• Experience with automotive SEO, local search, and service department SEO
• Experience with AI-generated search results and LLM visibility
• Experience developing content strategies at scale across multiple locations

Other Information

Pay: $25.00 - $75.00 per hour

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Morristown, NJ 07960
