Book Illustrator is needed in St. Louis, United States.

I am looking for a book illustrator to create approximately ten annotated maps for a naval aviation memoir about the Vietnam War. I will provide base maps and pencil sketches showing the required annotations. You will create the map annotations, submit a first draft for editorial feedback, and deliver final maps as JPEG files that can be placed and moved within a Microsoft Word manuscript.

The work requires a production rate of two to three maps per week. The book is in final draft and needs the maps before it is sent to the publisher. I can provide examples of completed maps and an initial draft. This is a personal project, and I may need additional maps beyond the initial ten.

Budget range:
Small project ($750 – 1,500 USD)

Examples:
Chapter 8 (file 7C 66 Cruise.docx) of the manuscript shows three complete maps in the context of the accompanying text. Vmap4.jpeg shows the illustrator’s first draft jpeg on the basis of my first pencil sketch.

I’m a retired Naval Intelligence Officer. This is my first book. I’ve been told by a two prominent naval history authors that my book is of interest, and should be published. OK Three Publishers have verbally committed to publishing the book.
