BE Networks - Senior Product Designer — Data Dense Dashboards & Monitoring UI (Part Time)
Product Designer is needed in Cary, United States.
Client: BE Networks
Location: Cary, NC
Contract: Temporary, Part-time
Job Description
We’re building an AI-driven observability and root-cause-analysis platform for large datacenter networks. The platform ingests topology, metrics, and log data from various network management and monitoring systems, then reasons over that data to explain why a network broke and what it will take down next.
We need a designer to create the platform’s web UI from the ground up. This operator console prioritizes user experience during outages, aiming to help network administrators understand issues quickly to take appropriate actions.
You will work directly with a small team of four senior engineers, defining the initial design system and shaping the product without an existing product manager.
Requirements
What you’ll design
- Network topology views: accommodating hundreds of devices, links, and logical groupings.
- Alarm and incident surfaces: including severity encoding, rollup and suppression.
- Impact analysis: detailing the reach of a failure downstream and affected tenants/services.
- Time-series and telemetry views: analyzing interface errors, drops, queue congestion, and throughput trends.
- Root-cause narratives produced by AI agents: showing evidence, provenance, and confidence for operator auditing.
- Human-in-the-loop approval flows for recommended remediation.
- A dark-mode-first component library and token set for engineers’ implementation.
How you’ll work
- Run usability sessions with practicing network operators to validate concepts.
- Work within a two-week sprint cadence alongside the engineering team.
- Translate engineering intent and operator needs into clear design specs.
- Hand off tokens and components in Figma, Claude Design, or similar tools, with sufficient React and CSS knowledge.
Required
- A portfolio with data-dense work (dashboards, NOC or ops consoles, admin tooling).
- Demonstrated skill at information hierarchy under pressure.
- Experience with graph or network visualization at scale.
- Fluency with time-series charting choices.
- Figma proficiency; working knowledge of React and modern CSS; WCAG 2.2 AA fluency.
- Comfort designing for expert users requiring density and keyboard shortcuts.
Nice to have
- Background in observability, monitoring, or network management tooling.
- Familiarity with datacenter networking concepts.
- Experience designing UI for AI or agentic systems.
- Experience establishing a design system inside a small engineering team.
