Job Description

DB Freedom Network is seeking a creative and dependable YouTube Producer and Video Editor for ongoing remote, project-based work. Our content focuses on public photography, freedom of speech, First Amendment rights, interactions with businesses and police, public education, and comedy. The selected editor will help transform raw recordings into structured, entertaining, and educational episodes. Each project will generally involve turning approximately 45–90 minutes of raw footage into a polished 30–45-minute YouTube episode.

Responsibilities

  • Review raw footage and identify the strongest story and interactions.
  • Produce an engaging 30–45-minute YouTube episode.
  • Create a strong opening hook, introduction, and episode structure.
  • Write scripts for introductions, commentary, voiceovers, and recaps for the channel owner to record.
  • Research relevant First Amendment and public-photography laws.
  • Provide links to reliable sources for legal information.
  • Add clear legal explanations and on-screen citations when appropriate.
  • Incorporate comedy segments, captions, memes, zooms, music, and sound effects.
  • Maintain a calmer, educational tone during police interactions.
  • Preserve the proper context and chronological order of conversations.
  • Clean up dialogue, reduce unwanted noise, and balance audio.
  • Use properly licensed music, graphics, and sound effects.
  • Create 6–10 vertical clips from each episode.
  • Format clips for TikTok, Facebook Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Add accurate captions to all vertical clips.
  • Create one 30–60-second promotional trailer.
  • Design one YouTube thumbnail.
  • Complete up to two reasonable revision rounds.
  • Deliver organized, platform-ready files within the agreed deadline.

Editorial Standards

The editor must not rearrange conversations in a misleading manner or make people appear to say something they did not say. Legal explanations must be supported by reliable sources, including statutes, court decisions, or official government information. Legal content must be presented as general educational information and not personal legal advice. Comedy should be entertaining without using threats, harassment, discrimination, or intentionally false claims. Sensitive personal information, uninvolved children, and private details should be blurred or removed when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Experience editing long-form YouTube videos.
  • Strong storytelling, pacing, and audience-retention skills.
  • Experience with comedy, commentary, documentary, educational, or street-interview content.
  • Ability to organize unstructured footage into a clear story.
  • Scriptwriting, research, or content-producing experience.
  • Experience creating TikTok, Facebook Reel, and YouTube Short content.
  • Strong captioning, sound-design, and audio-cleanup skills.
  • Thumbnail design experience.
  • Excellent written English and communication skills.
  • Ability to transfer and manage large video files.
  • Reliable internet connection.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond to revision requests.

Preferred Experience

  • First Amendment, civil-rights, or public-photography content.
  • Police-interaction or legal-education videos.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or comparable software.
  • YouTube copyright, fair-use, and music-licensing practices.

Compensation and Schedule

  • Remote contract/freelance position.
  • $20 - $30 per hour based on video package.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Expected turnaround: approximately 7–10 days per episode.
  • Continued work will depend on quality, communication, reliability, and channel needs.

Additional Information

Pay: $20.00 - $31.60 per hour

  • Benefits: Flexible schedule
