Job Description

The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality video productions for internal and external clients, ensuring that client briefs are executed to a professional standard, on schedule, and within budget. The postholder will support the Council’s commercial objectives by generating income through video production services, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring projects align with the Council’s communications strategy and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, film and edit high-quality video productions for a variety of clients, adhering to agreed briefs.
  • Manage video projects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Develop and pitch proposals for video production to secure new business opportunities.
  • Prepare competitive project quotations and fees that reflect the work’s scope and interests of the Council.
  • Select appropriate filming formats, locations, settings, equipment and techniques based on project needs.
  • Produce video content for various platforms, including social media, external websites, and intranet.
  • Ensure video content meets high quality and branding standards.
  • Implement new filming and editing techniques to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize workloads while maintaining delivery standards.
  • Handle financial administration for video projects, including quotations and invoicing.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare statistical and performance reports as required.
  • Collaborate with teams, clients, and partners to maximize the commercial potential of the Videography Unit.
  • Promote the Council’s Videography Unit to develop its profile and generate business opportunities.
  • Engage in industry research and professional development to deliver high-quality services.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and security of video production equipment.
  • Comply with health and safety, Data Protection/GDPR, and related Council policies.
  • Perform additional duties as required within the role’s scope.

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience in videography, video production, filming, and editing.
  • Strong practical skills in producing high-quality video content for various audiences and platforms.
  • Experience managing video production projects from concept to completion.
  • Ability to meet client briefs, deadlines, and budgets while maintaining quality.
  • Creative capability to develop concepts and select appropriate production techniques.
  • Experience producing content for digital platforms, including social media and websites.
  • Strong understanding of visual storytelling, composition, lighting, and post-production techniques.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and skill in identifying and pitching for new opportunities.
  • Experience in project quotation preparation and financial administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to professional standards and staying updated in videography and editing technology.
  • Understanding of data protection and health and safety regulations.

Desirable

  • Experience in local authority, public sector, or corporate communications environments.
  • Experience in generating commercial income through creative services.
  • Experience in cross-borough or partnership projects.
  • Knowledge of Council branding and public-sector communication requirements.
  • Familiarity with professional video cameras and editing software.
