Job Description

The NCDIT-Transportation (NCDIT-T) Infrastructure Team is seeking a Cloud Engineer - Expert to support the ongoing DMV NCMAX Cloud infrastructure build. The primary focus of this role is to help NCDIT-T understand the architecture and act as a bridge between NCDIT-T and the vendors concerning Cloud infrastructure networking, storage, and security. This role involves the complexity of building an Azure tenant from scratch to place DMV systems in the cloud, aligning with the aggressive timeframe to support DMV modernization efforts.

The candidate will need to come on-site on the first day to collect equipment and likely to get brought up to speed during the first week. All candidates must be local to the Triangle region of North Carolina. This position may require on-site attendance when business needs necessitate in-person participation, such as scheduled meetings or specific task activities. Additionally, statewide travel is required, and the selected candidate must use their own vehicle, as state vehicles are not permitted for contractors.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of DevOps principles, practices, and tools - Required, 7 Years
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - Highly desired, 7 Years
• Thorough knowledge of cloud infrastructure best practices, including security, scalability, and performance optimization - Required, 7 Years
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Required, 7 Years

Role Responsibilities

• Designing and developing software solutions for cloud-based operating systems.
• Building and maintaining infrastructure as code (IaC) using DevOps methodology and versioning with a descriptive model to define and deploy infrastructure, such as networks, virtual machines, load balancers, and connection topologies.
• Providing a reliable and scalable platform for developers to build and deploy applications.
• Designing, implementing, and managing the cloud network infrastructure, including the deployment and configuration of cloud-based network solutions to ensure high performance, reliability, and security.
