Job Description

The client, Government Services Integration Cluster under the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, is seeking an experienced Senior UX Designer to lead user-centered design initiatives and create effective, accessible, intuitive, and visually appealing digital experiences. The candidate will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to define the product and service design vision, conduct user research, facilitate design workshops, and deliver end-to-end UX design solutions. This role demands expertise in user research, service design, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, accessibility, and designing complex interfaces for both web and mobile platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing user interfaces.
  • Design the functionality of digital products to ensure exceptional user experiences and iterate based on user feedback.
  • Lead UX projects, design workshops, and stakeholder alignment sessions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish the product and service design vision.
  • Conduct and manage end-to-end user research.
  • Facilitate UX research using methods such as user interviews, usability testing, and surveys.
  • Translate research findings into actionable design deliverables.
  • Lead design ideation and deliver comprehensive UX artifacts.
  • Identify complex design problems and develop user-centered solutions.
  • Make strategic UX and design decisions related to product functionality.
  • Gather and analyze user feedback for interface improvements.
  • Design content that meets user needs and simplifies complex information.
  • Consider the emotional aspects of human experience in digital experiences.
  • Work effectively within complex stakeholder environments.
  • Manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines.

Requirements

Mandatory Skills and Experience

UX Design & Research

  • Extensive experience in GUI designs based on user interaction.
  • Experience in similar roles designing web and mobile applications.
  • Ability to lead UX projects and conduct stakeholder alignment.
  • Experience managing end-to-end user research.
  • Strong experience facilitating UX research through various methodologies.
  • Ability to translate research insights into design deliverables.
  • Experience designing product functionality based on user testing.
  • Experience in creating wireframes, user stories, and prototypes across multiple devices.
  • Experience developing service design blueprints and information architecture.
  • Strong ability to identify and solve design problems.
  • Experience gathering and incorporating user feedback.

UI & Digital Product Design

  • Proven ability to deliver user-friendly interfaces.
  • Experience designing interfaces for web and mobile applications.
  • Strong understanding of responsive and multi-device design.
  • Understanding of web development technologies.
  • Experience emphasizing emotional aspects in design.
  • Ability to simplify complex content for users.

Design Tools

  • Proficiency with Figma, Canvas, and similar design tools.
  • Experience in creating interactive prototypes.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in facilitating product and service design with stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare clear documentation.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of accessibility testing.
  • Ability to work with the Ontario Design System.
  • Knowledge of Digital Service Standards.
  • Experience on complex design challenges involving legacy systems.
  • Strong understanding of accessible design principles and WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
  • Knowledge of network security and protocols.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within the Ontario Public Service or broader public sector.
  • Involvement in large-scale government digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience designing solutions for complex or legacy environments.

Additional Information

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite โ€“ 5 Days per Week

Contract Duration: September 21, 2026 to October 1, 2027

Extension: Up to 1 additional term

Number of Positions: 1
