Job Description

Our client, the Government Services Integration Cluster (GSIC) under the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, is seeking an experienced Senior UX Designer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating effective, user-friendly, accessible, and visually appealing digital experiences. This role requires a strong background in end-to-end UX design, user research, service design, prototyping, stakeholder engagement, and iterative product development. This is a 100% onsite role in Toronto, Ontario, requiring attendance in the office 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create effective, intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces for digital products and services.
  • Design the overall functionality of products, continuously iterating based on user testing and feedback.
  • Apply a user-centered design approach throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Define and lead UX projects, design workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Manage end-to-end user research, including execution, analysis, and presentation of findings.
  • Facilitate UX research using various methodologies such as user interviews, usability testing, and A/B testing.
  • Synthesize research findings into insightful research artifacts like user journey maps and personas.
  • Translate research insights into intuitive and effective design solutions.
  • Lead design ideation and deliver comprehensive UX and service design artifacts, including wireframes and interactive prototypes.
  • Design experiences optimized for a variety of devices and interfaces.
  • Gather and incorporate user feedback to enhance existing interfaces.
  • Think strategically about UX and design decisions related to core functionality and features.
  • Support compliance with accessibility standards throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and cross-functional teams.
  • Manage competing priorities while meeting project timelines and deliverables.

Requirements

Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer, or similar role focusing on digital experiences for web and mobile applications.
  • Experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction.
  • Strong ability to lead UX projects and design workshops.
  • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end user research.
  • Hands-on experience with various UX research methodologies.
  • Ability to synthesize research findings into meaningful documentation.
  • Experience with information architecture and user flows.
  • Strong ability to identify design problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Experience making strategic UX and design decisions.

Design Tools & Technologies

  • Strong proficiency with Figma and other design/prototyping tools.
  • Experience designing interfaces using a design system.
  • Thorough understanding of web development technologies.

Agile & Product Development

  • Experience working in an Agile, sprint-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of iterative product development cycles.

Accessibility & Digital Standards

  • Knowledge of accessibility testing and designing accessible digital experiences.
  • Understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
  • Knowledge of digital service standards.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Ability to prepare clear documentation and communicate design concepts.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with complex design challenges and legacy systems.
  • Experience with nuanced stakeholder relationships.
  • Prior experience working within the Ontario Public Service (OPS) or the public sector.
  • Strong understanding of government digital services and user-centered service delivery.

Additional Information

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite – 5 days per week

Contract Duration: September 21, 2026 – October 1, 2027

Extension: Up to 1 additional term

Number of Positions: 1

Security Clearance: Not Required
