Job Description
ApertureAlley / Legal Motion Solutions is expanding our network of experienced legal videographers in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and for remote deposition coverage nationwide. This is a 1099 contract position specifically for videographers with professional legal deposition experience. We are not seeking general event or wedding videographers or those looking to learn legal videography from scratch. Ideal candidates should already understand the legal deposition environment and possess the necessary skills to create an accurate and defensible record.
Requirements
- Proven Experience: Must have a documented track record in recording legal depositions.
- Previous Employment: Experience working with court reporting agencies, legal videography companies, litigation support companies, or law firms.
- Professional References: Ability to provide references or companies for whom you have performed deposition work.
- Equipment: Must own a complete professional legal videography kit and have reliable access to required equipment.
- Independence: Comfortable handling assignments without basic training and maintaining client relationships as an independent contractor.
- Availability: Strong Monday–Friday availability is preferred. Weekend work is rare.
- Travel: Should be willing to travel approximately 60–90 minutes for in-person assignments.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Zoom, OBS, and troubleshooting common issues.
- Physical Capability: Ability to transport and lift approximately 50 lbs. of equipment.
- Experience with Trial Presentations: Strongly preferred for additional assignment opportunities.

- Remote depositions
- Hybrid depositions
- Recorded Zoom depositions
- Trial presentation/litigation support assignments
Compensation and Payment Terms
In-Person Deposition Coverage: $150 appearance fee for the first 2 hours; $35–$40/hour thereafter. Final rates may vary based on experience and client requirements.
Remote Deposition Coverage: $30/hour with a 2-hour minimum per assignment. Approved tolls and parking are reimbursed for applicable assignments. Payment typically follows NET 90 terms, with common disbursement within 30–45 days.
Independent Contractor Relationship
This is a 1099 freelance contractor opportunity. Contractors are responsible for their own equipment, taxes, insurance, and business expenses. There is no guaranteed minimum number of assignments or hours, and candidates should have other clients as this should not be their sole source of income.
