Job Description

This is a remote position located in Canberra ACT (Remote considered subject to business requirements). The role requires a security clearance of baseline clearance.

The Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) is seeking experienced Senior Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers to support the delivery of strategic cloud and digital transformation initiatives across its CIO Group. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and governing enterprise cloud solutions within Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, ensuring alignment with Whole-of-Government (WoG) standards, enterprise architecture frameworks, security requirements, and digital service delivery principles.

This role combines architecture, engineering, stakeholder engagement, technical leadership, and cloud platform governance within a dynamic Agile delivery environment.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

Azure Cloud Platform Expertise:

• Minimum 5+ years of demonstrated experience delivering enterprise cloud solutions using Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus, Azure API Management.

DevOps & Automation:

• Proven experience with Azure DevOps, Git Repositories, CI/CD Pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM Templates, Terraform or equivalent), Automated testing and deployment practices.

Identity, Security & Monitoring:

• Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, RBAC, Cloud security controls, Azure networking services.

Enterprise Integration:

• Experience integrating cloud platforms with Dynamics 365 CRM, Enterprise APIs, Business systems, Third-party platforms, Cloud-native services.

Architecture & Design:

• Demonstrated ability to develop enterprise architectures, produce solution architecture documentation, provide technical governance and assurance, perform impact analysis and technical assessments, deliver solutions aligned with Whole-of-Government standards.

Agile Delivery:

• Experience working within Agile multidisciplinary teams, Government ICT programs, complex stakeholder environments, and rapidly changing project priorities.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Technical Leadership:

• Proven track record of leading architecture or engineering teams, mentoring cloud engineers and technical specialists, influencing technology strategy and architectural direction.

Enterprise & Platform Architecture:

• Experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, Integration Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, Cloud Governance Frameworks.

Multi-Cloud Exposure:

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Large Enterprise Environments:

• Minimum three years’ experience designing and documenting architectures for large and complex enterprise systems. Experience within Australian Government or regulated industry environments is highly regarded.

• Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
• Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
• Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204)
• Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect (SC-100)
