Job Description

This is a remote position. The Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) aims to support the sustainable growth of Australian industries by enhancing the national innovation system to foster knowledge creation, international competitiveness, and increased productivity. The CIO Group is looking for experienced and motivated Cloud Engineers and/or Architects with a minimum of 5 years’ experience to assist with the delivery of various ICT Projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Cloud Engineers and/or Architects will be required to:

• Develop enterprise-level cloud platform architectures for MS Azure and M365.
• Develop high-level solution architectures for cloud-based systems.
• Provide detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers.
• Conduct impact analysis of user/stakeholder requirements.
• Ensure adherence to whole-of-government standards in enterprise and system solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems.
• Liaise with cross-functional teams including business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects, and testers.
• Work with the department’s Service Experience team to incorporate user experience considerations.
• Coordinate with ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment with target architectures and technology.
• Offer expertise in platform automation including testing, continuous integration, and deployment.
• Promote enterprise architecture principles relevant to cloud platforms.
• Assist in ensuring solutions align with the DTA’s Digital Service Standard.
• Take on additional duties as required.

Requirements

Criteria

Essential Criteria

• Cloud experience: Proven experience in cloud-based solution implementation using technologies such as Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus, and Azure API Management.
• Cultural fit: Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams and collaborate with both technical and non-technical staff.
• Agile: Experience working with Agile multi-disciplinary teams to deliver secure, user-friendly solutions.
• Technical Skills: 5+ years of experience implementing and managing cloud systems, including liaising with cross-functional teams for enterprise architecture.

Desirable Criteria

• Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks.
• Experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures.
• Experience in application/integration or infrastructure platform architecture.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems; experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential.
