Job Description

ABC News Studios, a non-fiction studio within ABC News, produces narrative non-fiction, documentaries, and news specials for Hulu, ABC Network, Disney+, and National Geographic.

We are seeking an Associate Producer to generate and manage content for multi-part narrative non-fiction projects, single-hour topical narrative specials for Hulu, and network specials.

The Associate Producer will provide logistical and editorial support across all aspects of longform production. Responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and managing field shoots.
  • Gathering, organizing, and managing archival and field elements at scale.
  • Supporting editors with media and production materials.
  • Booking guests and conducting reporting, research, and interviews.
  • Writing and supporting editorial development.
  • Assisting with the creation of show treatments and presentation decks.
  • Working independently with editors while remaining closely aligned with the producer.
  • Managing concurrent projects and adapting quickly when breaking news requires the activation of quick-turn longform features.

Requirements

  • Experience with large-scale news or documentary production.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong editorial judgment.
  • Experience with reporting, research, and guest booking.
  • Field production experience, including conducting interviews.
  • Understanding of production technologies used in pre-production and post-production.
  • Ability to develop innovative approaches to storytelling.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of archival and digital resources.
  • BA or BS degree from a four-year accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.

Compensation and Benefits

The hiring range for this position in New York is $59,600–$79,800 per year. Base pay may vary based on internal equity, geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other factors.

The compensation package may also include a bonus and/or long-term incentive units, as well as medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
