Job Description
TelevisaUnivision is seeking a temporary, part-time News Photographer and Editor in San Jose, California. The role involves capturing video and audio for live and recorded television productions, editing news content to match scripts, and working from station facilities or remote locations.
- Shoot and edit breaking news, assigned stories, special assignments, and series using ENG cameras and non-linear editing systems.
- Provide video, photographs, and short-form content for social media and digital platforms.
- Set up and operate LiveU equipment for live remote broadcasts.
- Assist with editing, acquiring, preparing, and playing back video for newscasts.
- Upload video, photographs, and written content to the station website when required.
- Operate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on news vehicles and broadcast equipment.
- Travel for special assignments and coverage as needed.
- Collaborate with reporters, producers, assignment editors, video editors, photographers, engineering teams, production staff, and public officials.
- Work effectively under pressure, meet strict deadlines, multitask, communicate clearly, and make independent decisions.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather.
Requirements
- Experience as a news photographer in a television news or similar environment is preferred.
- Computer experience and proficiency with non-linear editing are required.
- Knowledge of lighting techniques is an advantage.
- High school diploma required.
- College degree or technical training in journalism, radio/television, production, ENG, or a related field is preferred.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
- Ability to lift and carry broadcast equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds.
- Ability to drive, bend, and set up remote equipment for video, audio, photographic, and live transmissions.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work outdoors in challenging weather conditions.
- Good vision and hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity with cameras, keyboards, videotape machines, and other broadcast equipment.
- Strong storytelling, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and attention-to-detail skills.

- Compensation: $44.35 per hour, union rate.
- Union requirement: This position requires NABET union membership.
