Job Description

Halogen Engineering is seeking a Software Engineer with experience in AI/ML and full-stack development to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software solutions and prototypes.

The role involves developing software applications using Java with Gradle and Python, working in Linux environments, applying basic networking concepts, and customizing interfaces and access to customer-tailored Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Gathering and evaluating end-user and customer requirements.
• Writing, testing, debugging, and deploying code.
• Conducting code reviews and maintaining software quality.
• Troubleshooting and resolving defects and performance issues.
• Contributing to project planning and strategic initiatives.
• Collaborating with product managers, developers, subject matter experts, and organizational leadership.
• Designing accessible user interfaces for the customer community.
• Exploring opportunities to integrate artificial intelligence and LLM capabilities.
• Developing interfaces and bridges to external requirements-management tools.
• Mentoring junior software engineers.

Requirements

• At least 14 years of experience as a software engineer on programs or contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or four additional years of relevant software engineering experience in lieu of the degree.
• Current TS/SCI security clearance with a required polygraph.
• Compliance with DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements.
• Experience with artificial intelligence and LLM-related technologies.
• Proficiency in Python and Java development using Gradle.
• Experience with JSON, Vue, Node.js, and full-stack development.
• Experience with Git/GitLab, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, software testing, and debugging.
• Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of Linux and basic networking concepts.
• Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.

Compensation

The projected annual compensation range is $217,000–$230,000. Salary may vary based on location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract affordability, and organizational requirements.
