Job Description

John Kind Studios LLC (JKS) is seeking dependable, professional freelance videographers with their own equipment to support its Atlanta production team.

This is a project-based contract role covering Atlanta and surrounding communities. Shoots are conducted on location, while planning meetings and team coordination generally take place online.

Assignments may include:

• Brand stories, interviews, and testimonials.
• Conferences, community events, and live event coverage.
• Promotional campaigns and short-form social content.
• Documentary-style storytelling and program documentation.
• Single-camera and coordinated multi-camera productions.

Videographers must be able to follow creative briefs, represent JKS professionally, communicate clearly, and deliver organized footage to an assigned editor. Editing experience is beneficial but not required for every assignment.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional videography experience.
• A portfolio or reel demonstrating strong composition, lighting, sound, and storytelling.
• Experience with interviews, events, branded content, or similar client productions.
• Reliable transportation to Atlanta-area locations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
• Strong organization, time management, communication, and follow-through.
• Professional production equipment, including:
• A camera capable of professional 4K recording with 10-bit or RAW capture.
• 4K at 60 fps for assignments requiring slow motion.
• Suitable lenses for interviews, events, and general coverage.
• A camera-compatible motorized gimbal.
• A stable video tripod with a fluid head.
• Wireless lavalier microphones, a shotgun microphone, and monitoring headphones.
• A controllable lighting kit with modifiers and safe stands.
• Sufficient batteries and recording media.
• A reliable footage backup and transfer workflow.
• Ability to use Slack, monitor production communications, and acknowledge directed messages within one business day during agreed communication windows.
• Willingness to provide availability updates, respond to check-ins, maintain current profile and equipment information, and communicate production issues promptly.

Compensation and Schedule

Compensation starts at $400 per booked shoot day. Hours, responsibilities, equipment, footage requirements, expenses, and payment terms will be agreed in writing before each assignment. Longer shoots, specialty equipment, additional responsibilities, and complex productions may receive an adjusted fee.

Assignments depend on client bookings, project requirements, and videographer availability. The role does not guarantee weekly hours, recurring assignments, or a minimum volume of work. Freelancers should be comfortable maintaining other clients and may experience periods without JKS work or income.

Preferred Qualifications

• Native 6K or higher recording.
• Open-gate capture.
• Access to a second camera.
• Timecode capability.
• Experience with Sony FX, Canon Cinema EOS, Blackmagic, Panasonic LUMIX, or comparable systems.

JKS evaluates the complete production setup, portfolio, and ability to deliver rather than camera brand alone. Applicants should clearly identify their camera’s actual recording capabilities.
