Job Description

Rogue Media Sports is seeking talented freelance videographers to cover youth and high-school lacrosse tournaments and sporting events.

This role involves live sports coverage rather than traditional cinematic filming. Videographers will be assigned specific athletes and must capture their key moments throughout the day for recruiting videos, highlight reels and social media content.

Responsibilities include filming live games, anticipating plays, capturing significant action, recording warmups and event B-roll, and organizing and uploading raw footage promptly after each event.

Requirements

  • Experience in sports videography is strongly preferred; lacrosse experience is a major advantage.
  • Ability to track fast-moving athletes and consistently capture important plays, including goals, assists, defensive actions, saves, faceoffs, transitions and celebrations.
  • Ability to work independently while following direction from a Rogue Media event lead.
  • Comfort working outdoors for full tournament days and moving between fields.
  • Strong camera operation skills, including steady framing and maintaining focus during live action.
  • Ability to capture primarily horizontal 16:9 footage, with select vertical 9:16 content for social media.
  • Ability to leave sufficient footage before and after each play for editing.
  • Professional mirrorless, DSLR or cinema camera capable of at least 4K/60fps; 120fps capability is a plus.
  • Quality telephoto lens, with a 70–200mm or longer lens strongly preferred.
  • Additional 24–70mm or similar lens preferred for sideline footage and B-roll.
  • Monopod strongly preferred; gimbal or handheld B-roll capability is a plus.
  • Ability to capture basic game audio; wireless microphone capability for occasional interviews is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence in capturing an assigned athlete’s most important moments.

Schedule and Compensation

This is freelance, event-based work with opportunities at tournaments throughout the year. Assignments may involve 8–10-hour event days and occasional travel.

Compensation is determined per event or day based on experience, equipment and assignment. Travel, lodging and other applicable expenses will be communicated in advance.
