Job Description

TaxRise is seeking a curious and motivated Junior Software Developer to join its team in Irvine, California. This is an entry-level opportunity suited to recent graduates and early-career developers who have developed their skills through education, internships, research, personal projects, freelance work, or independent learning.

The successful candidate will work on real production projects, including front-end website updates, troubleshooting, code maintenance, internal tools, testing, deployments, and progressively larger development initiatives. The role also involves using AI-assisted development tools to support coding, research, debugging, documentation, and problem-solving.

This is a 100% on-site position requiring close collaboration with engineering, product, design, and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Make front-end changes and improvements to websites and web applications.
• Write, modify, test, and maintain code within existing applications.
• Use Git and standard version-control practices to manage and collaborate on code.
• Troubleshoot bugs and technical issues and develop practical solutions.
• Build and improve internal tools that support business operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn ideas into working solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve research, coding, debugging, documentation, and problem-solving.
• Take increasing ownership of features and projects as technical skills develop.

Requirements

• Foundational understanding of software development and programming concepts.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with HTML and CSS, including the ability to make front-end changes.
• Exposure to a modern front-end framework such as React or a similar technology.
• Basic understanding of APIs and front-end/back-end communication.
• Familiarity with Git repositories, branches, commits, and code pushes.
• Ability to read and work within existing codebases.
• Ability to research unfamiliar technical problems and work toward effective solutions.
• Strong communication skills and openness to feedback.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn new technologies and working methods.

Desirable Experience

• Personal projects, GitHub repositories, or a technical portfolio.
• University or independent technical research.
• Internships, freelance development work, or hackathon participation.
• Experience building websites, applications, automations, or other tools.
• Experience independently learning new technologies or experimenting with AI development tools.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is helpful but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary of $80,000–$90,000 per year, depending on experience, technical ability, and demonstrated skills.
