Job Description

Rainbow Companies is seeking a freelance Creative Content Writer to support its creative and marketing teams. The role involves developing clear, engaging, audience-focused content for multiple brands and digital channels, including websites, blogs, social media, email marketing, and other communications.

The successful candidate will turn complex topics, subject matter expertise, and marketing objectives into accessible content that reflects brand voice, supports business goals, and helps audiences make informed decisions. This is a project-based independent contractor position with flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work across multiple Rainbow Companies brands.

Key responsibilities include:

• Writing and refining website copy, headlines, calls to action, and supporting messaging.
• Creating blog articles, educational resources, and other long-form content.
• Developing social media posts for brand awareness, marketing initiatives, and educational campaigns.
• Writing email campaigns, newsletters, customer communications, and promotional content.
• Collaborating with designers, marketers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders from concept through execution.
• Translating complex or technical information into clear, engaging, audience-focused content.
• Maintaining consistency with established brand voice, tone, and communication standards.
• Contributing ideas to content strategy, audience engagement, and digital marketing initiatives.
• Managing multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

• Excellent copywriting, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Experience creating website, digital marketing, and online content.
• Ability to understand audience needs and write from the reader’s perspective.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to simplify complex or technical information.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a freelance or contract environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with B2B marketing.
• Experience in science, plant health care, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental services, or another technical industry.
• Knowledge of SEO and digital content strategy.
• Experience working with designers, web developers, and creative teams.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted content workflows while maintaining a strong editorial voice and human-centered storytelling approach.

Additional Information

Employment details: Freelance independent contractor position with an ongoing contract and project-based work. Hours may vary based on business needs and assignment availability. Contractors must provide their own equipment, workspace, and internet access unless otherwise agreed.

Compensation: $35–$50 per hour, depending on experience, expertise, and project scope. Compensation will be discussed during the selection process.

This position is not eligible for company-sponsored employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, holiday pay, retirement plans, or other employee benefit programs.

Physical demands and work environment: The role requires extended periods of sitting, occasional standing and walking, frequent use of hands to operate standard office equipment, and communication in person and by telephone. Contractors may occasionally lift up to 20 pounds and must be able to view computer screens and printed materials.
