Hi! My name is Rechana Sebastian, but my friends call me Rech. I think it's easier. I'm an Indo-Western Illustrator who likes working on South Asian art prints, architecture, and occasionally supernatural things. My true passion lies in the details. I was born and raised in the Middle East, specifically in Doha, Qatar; my true origin is from Kerala, India. I am a proud Mallu (iykyk). I moved to Windsor, Ontario, Canada when I was 11 with my family. I did my professional (art) schooling in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Currently, I'm working full-time as a kickass lead cake decorator during the day and as an illustrator during the night. My creative inspiration comes from studying South-Asian culture. Growing up, I remember my cousin sisters and I always fought to collect old magazine covers; my eyes would be glued to the page. It didn't matter if it was the food, clothes, jewelry, sayings, models, dances, monuments, etc. Whatever it was, I would be mesmerized. I was born into a culture which was oozing with expression and individuality and I felt lucky. Not only do I want to dignify its expressive individuality, but I also want to portray how authentic and magical my culture is through my work. My second love is black spotting, which comprised most of my school years. I loved inking, and for some time, I wanted to be a professional inker for Marvel/DC. So, you will find some Ink-friendly prints here, along with occasional Supernatural things because I also like drawing weird things!
