I’m a full stack developer and musician working across web, systems, and audio. I build and maintain web applications using tools like React, TypeScript, Python, and PHP, and I enjoy working on projects that involve messy data, legacy systems, or unusual constraints.
Alongside development, I write and produce music, and I’m particularly interested in work that sits between technology and sound—whether that’s interactive audio, tools for creatives, or anything a bit unconventional. I have a Master’s degree in Music and Sound for Film and Games.

BEATTAPE is an innovative interactive music website developed by Rhys Apfelbaum using FMOD and an HTML5 API as part of his MSc final project. The platform allows users to manipulate the mix and arrangement of tracks in real time using intuitive sliders, giving them control over elements like volume, instrumentation, and song sequencing to create personalized audio experiences. All music and sound effects are composed by Rhys, while visual art on the site is contributed by various collaborators, further enhancing the immersive experience.

Migrated thousands of lines of legacy jQuery to pure JavaScript to reduce bundle size; integrated front-end UI into existing client web pages with custom CSS; optimized websites for search engine visibility with sitemaps and meta tags; automated translation of sites for broader regional availability; developed internal Python tools to clean and stream large, sometimes malformed XML data feeds into a database; created an internal and client-facing web app for AI inference review, including relational database design, REST API development, user authentication, and Shopify front-end integration; integrated legacy PHP code with modern TypeScript frameworks; implemented CI/CD workflows in GitHub Actions and managed feature branches, testing, and production deployments.
