About
I’m Stanley Robert Holm, an electronics and embedded software engineer with a deep background in power electronics, electrical machines, and electromagnetic design—spanning automotive, cryogenic systems, mining automation, robotics, and vehicle-related research. I enjoy turning complex technical problems into practical designs, combining analytical modeling, FEM work, and hands-on validation.
More recently, I’ve been building Python tooling and measurement workflows for a full-spectrum vector network analyser, and I’m applying those skills to slip-ring electromagnetic design and impedance matching. I also love teaching and mentorship, having designed curricula and delivered lectures across electrical engineering topics, programming, and systems work—always with a friendly, problem-solving mindset.

Work experience· 11 roles
Designs control systems and performs embedded programming. Develops Python code for LibreVNA full-spectrum vector network analyser measurements and post-processing (100 MHz to 6 GHz), including test workflows for slip rings, transmission lines and connectors. Conducts electromagnetic slip-ring design using transmission-line approaches and explores numerical techniques such as FDTD. Designs impedance-matching networks for slip rings (including a 100BASE-T1 network using MLT3 encoding) and verifies performance with VNA measurements. Writes the associated engineering code in Python using scientific/numerical modules.
Developed embedded C code for Silicon Labs EFM32 Gecko 32-bit microcontroller (ARM Cortex-M3). Produced schematic and PCB designs in KiCAD 7.
Led electrical machine and electromagnetic structure design and analysis using magnetoquasistatic analytical methods and FEM (FEMM freeware and COMSOL). Supported 3D modeling and client interaction. Worked on research for electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, military-related tasks, trackless mobile machinery and associated sensors. Delivered proposal writing, budgeting, project management, and graduate training involvement, and applied Python (numpy, scipy) for numerical computing. Also explored AI workflows (TensorFlow/scikit-learn), ChatGPT and the ChatGPT Python API; implemented IoT home automation using hass.io, Raspberry Pi and Sonoff devices.
