Hi, I'm Ryan, a recent graduate from James Madison University with a degree in Psychology and Media Arts & Design, with a concentration in Digital Video & Cinema, and I love everything editing. I am deeply inspired by the power of editing to shape a story. It’s literally like solving a complex puzzle where every cut, rhythm, and transition matters to create an emotional and compelling film. Editors like Jennifer Lame, Gregory Plotkin, and Yang Jin-mo, whose work shows how thoughtful editing elevates narrative tension, pacing, and emotion, inspire my love for editing. During my time at JMU, I had the opportunity to write, direct, and co-edit a short film called Waiting Room. Using Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro, I crafted the film’s pacing, color, and tone, carefully shaping each scene to build tension and connect viewers to the characters. This project was a passion project and a hands-on lesson in how editing is not just technical work but a creative art that requires problem-solving, patience, and an eye for detail. In addition to Waiting Room, I worked as a videographer and editor at JMU, collaborating with student leadership to produce social campaigns, interviews, and creative content that combined storytelling with brand strategy. I have experience managing post-production timelines, syncing audio, layering music, and refining story arcs, which has prepared me well for a fast-paced, collaborative environment like Blumhouse. I’m proficient in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe After Effects, and I thrive in the post-production process, whether cutting scripted content or crafting engaging social videos.
