I am Serena Castillo, a senior graphic designer with over 30 years of professional experience and nearly two decades as a mixed-media artist. A key part of my background includes designing women’s accessories at Monarque, where I developed original artwork and patterns for handbags, purses, and wallets. While at Monarque, I worked directly with the Frida Kahlo and Frank Lloyd Wright estates to reinterpret iconic works into fresh, contemporary accessory designs. I translated historic artwork into commercially viable products while maintaining the integrity, visual language, and licensing requirements of each artist’s legacy. I collaborated closely with cross-functional teams throughout the design and production process, from concept development through final, production-ready artwork. This work required a strong understanding of colour, pattern, composition, and scale, along with precision, consistency, and a systems-driven approach. What sets me apart is my ability to bridge fine art sensibility with commercial design execution. I bring an artist’s eye, a disciplined production mindset, and a collaborative working style, creating designs that are both visually compelling and aligned with brand and business goals.
