Idori LLC is a startup company with a mission to inspire curiosity, imagination, and empathy for our beautiful planet. With picture books, plush toys, and other educational resources, children can enjoy a unique story while learning sustainable behavior along the way. As Lead Designer and Illustrator, I led and developed all the startup’s visual identity and branding from concept to final production. This included the creation of their logo, marketing emails, website, and interactive digital games. Currently, the founder of Idori and I are working with designers from Bears for Humanity to create a plush prototype.
The major component of my work was the illustration and development of three complete picture books, each exploring a different aspect of sustainability. My work included all visual components of the books, including cover design, text placement, and typography decisions.
The Evolving Minds Project (EM) was created by Dr. Deborah Kelemen at the Boston University Child Cognition Lab. EM is focused on teaching third grade children across the United States about evolution, speciation, and natural selection in animal populations. My work on EM was sponsored by the Boston University Center for Innovations in Social Sciences.
From 2022 — 2024, I worked on updating and creating new lesson illustrations, along with posters, brochures, flyers, and slide decks. These materials are now being used in student workbooks and classroom handouts for the Evolving Minds Curriculum, designed to make complex scientific concepts more engaging.
My main project involved creating a pair of illustrations that demonstrated the evolutionary change in populations of various animals, including cane toads, guppies, and okapis. These visuals help students to understand how traits develop over time in response to environmental pressures.
