Suzuka Fujiyama is a Japanese illustrator and author of children’s literature based in France. Born in Hyōgo Prefecture in 1994, she graduated from the Department of Japanese Painting at Tama Art University in Tokyo in 2020. Her poetic and gentle visual world is inspired by animals, nature, and quiet everyday moments, expressed through soft colors and delicate compositions.
After holding her solo exhibition Contemplation at SAN-AI GALLERY in Tokyo in 2021 and participating in the Golden Egg Exhibition in 2022, she moved to France, where she continues her creative activities internationally.
Fujiyama is the author and illustrator of the bilingual picture book La famille Matsuo (Éditions L’Harmattan, France) and the digital picture book Soa and Maro (Kodansha, Japan), which was selected as a finalist for the “Readers’ Choice New Picture Book Award” organized by Kodansha and Ehon Navi in 2025.
She works across a wide range of creative fields including children’s books, book cover illustration, editorial illustration, character design, and visual design for stationery and products. Her work is created primarily using iPad, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. She works in Japanese, English, and French.
