As a filmmaker located in Brooklyn, NY, I tell nuanced stories that merge humanity, marketing, and communitcations. I have created marketing and comms videos for clients including HER, Columbia University, and Princeton University that have been used on websites and social media to help increase collowers and engagement. My work also spans artistic spaces as well. I made my co-directoral debut with my film Hold On To Me, which premiered at NewFest Film Festival in October 2022 and traveled to festivals in the US and abroad. I am co-directing/producing a feature documentary supported by ITVS Open Call. The film, titled Mother Wit, follows three Black trans women grieving the death of their matriarch as they fight to achieve their academic ambitions and fulfill the promises they made to her. In 2023, I was awarded the duPont/Judy F. Crichton award, a Pulitzer Reporting Fellowship, and a Cucalorus Works-in-Progress Lab Recipient in 2023. I am currently a part of the 2024 Black Film Space Mentorship program. I also have over 6 years of experience working in communications/marketing. During my time in comms I have orchestrated the creation of visually compelling stories highlighting the department, developed social media strategy and video production projects. I have also designed social media and digital assets, produce and edit all facets of photo and video production, and optimize direct marketing campaigns for post secondary institutions. Outside of communications and filmmaking, I advocate to improve journalistic practices that produce harmful narratives about the trans community. I recently finished a fellowship at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University where I researched how journalists can build trust in trans communities. I am also working on a multimedia project, funded by a Magic Seed Grant from Columbia University’s Brown Institute of Media Innovation, that will serve as a guide for storytellers covering trans issues.
