Upon deciding my career path, I was fortunate to be mentored by saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, who recommended me to the Jazz Orchestral and Composition Studies program at the University of Bridgeport. Growing up as a jazz club aficionado in NYC’s West Village, I cultivated my unique vocal style inspired by greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, blending classic interpretations with bebop and scat singing. My education equipped me with classical and jazz voice training, piano, orchestration, composition, and conducting skills, oriented toward opera and theater works with Jazz as my musical foundation. My approach marries traditional jazz with contemporary chord structures to offer accessible yet rich jazz compositions for both new and experienced listeners. Throughout my career, I have worn multiple hats ranging from performing jazz vocalist in clubs to managing orchestras, booking artists, teaching music, and producing musical and theatrical events. I created rehearsal and production facilities, managed talent agencies, and established publishing imprints through which I produced CDs and books. My work has been recognized with awards and grants, including a Music Cares grant that enabled me to focus on solo artistry and teaching. I continue to operate a writing service and maintain active involvement in composition, performance, and music education.
