Overview:
The brief was to create a series of print materials for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award program, including flyers, event programs, and pull-up banners that visually celebrated the achievements of participating students. The design needed to remain formal yet engaging, suitable for an internationally recognized youth award program.
Challenges & Solutions:
Although the layout requirements were straightforward, I elevated the visual interest by integrating travel-themed props, symbolic of the adventurous and exploratory spirit of the award. I used a mix of black and white backgrounds with children in full color to create a dramatic visual contrast that emphasized the students as the heroes of the journey. Special attention was given to the photo treatments, composition, and balance to ensure the layouts remained clean, focused, and emotionally resonant.
Outcome:
The printed materials, especially the flyers on matte finish, were visually striking and well-received by the school and participants. The work added energy and elegance to the event atmosphere and helped highlight the program’s spirit of resilience, achievement, and growth.
