My name is Pamela R. Levy and I am a freelance illustrator specializing in children's book illustration. I've worked with a variety of different trade and text publishers and children's magazines including Simon & Schuster, Houghton Mifflin, Charlesbridge, Harcourt Brace, and five of the Cricket magazines. I also have experience in adult text book art, text and trade book cover art and interior ornaments, and magazine illustration. In children's work, imbuing my characters with relatable personality (and humor, when appropriate) and making the art add an extra layer of depth to the text's meaning are what drive my work. My media are watercolor, ink, or pencil, depending on the look called for, and I enjoy creating both animal and human characters. I have twice won the SCBWI Magazine Merit Award. My degrees are in Illustration from RISD and Mathematics and Art History from Vanderbilt University. I am an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators and the Graphic Artists Guild. For a dozen years I taught children's book illustration at adult-ed.
