Doug Anarino

I’m a deeply technical and highly creative software engineer with extensive experience building web applications, media tools, and large-scale data systems. I founded Media Masher, an open-source video editing platform designed to democratize media creation through user-centric design, open standards, and independence from venture capital. Previously served as the first engineer at Scruff where I built foundational systems including its data lake, recommendation engine, and messaging tools. All were central to the growth of this secure and private dating app.

With a background spanning animation, graphic design, publishing, and early web development, including serving as AKQA’s first Head of Technology, I have consistently bridged creativity and engineering. I am known for translating ambitious goals into practical solutions, mentoring teams, and delivering robust, user-friendly products. Based in Vermont, I continue to freelance, innovate, and collaborate with organizations ranging from startups to global brands.
