Issued by A' Design Awards · May 2022Issued by A' Design Awards · May 2022 Company logo Associated with Ekas Design Studio Associated with Ekas Design Studio INSPIRATION: Luna is an ultrasound system designed on the orders of Med Fanavaran Plus. The company requested a cost-effective Ultrasound that competes with worldwide models, meets the needs of Iranian society and is suitable for use in both large hospitals and small clinics. The aim was to design a market demand ultrasound device that has a unique identity and form matched with the corporate image. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Luna is designed with every user in mind. The full-touch control panel makes it possible to customize the interface for fitting up to 5 different user's specific needs. Its instruction allows for the upgrade of the hardware system without having replaced the entire device. Each part can be maintained separately, without affecting the whole system. The probe holders can be shifted overbased on the intensity of probes usage. the device is optimized to tolerate shipping and environmental damages. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Luna uses a deep-learning system, AI, and AR to improve the efficiency of medical imaging systems. Due to its full-touch control panel, it can be customized by changing the size and location of buttons or minimizing those that aren't required. The separatable transducer receptacles provide two options with two or four transducers based on the customer's order. The arm’s up/down mechanism enables height adjustment. the silicon probe-holders cups provide easy cleaning. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2020 in Tehran and finished in November 2020 in Tehran

The idea was to create a low-cost device that could be used by professionals in addition to cost savings, which made the device available to a target group with less financial strength, the design team aimed to add value by aesthetic innovation. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Since the trolley's height adjustment mechanism has been removed to save costs, 50th percentile dimension is used to let more users use the device. The probe's transducers were moved to the back, making it easier to manage while giving it a neater look. While the combination of physical control panel with the modern look trolley make zino aesthetic design distinctive among othes, it follows form following function principal. Different monitor viewing angles possible thanks to the arm mechanism. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Zino's control panel is for people who prefer and are more confident with a physical control panel. To achieve the optimal setting possible, the buttons are configured based on user interviews, user obs, the intensity of use, and a review of existing samples. paper Ultrasound Probe Tester Device Design

Designing medical products comes with immense responsibility due to their direct impact on human health. Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of such products, especially in medical imaging, is paramount. Ultrasound probes are critical equipment, and their precision directly affects doctors’ diagnoses and patients’ treatment journeys. The Ultrasound Probe Testing Device developed by the Electronic Industry Development Company serves as a valuable tool for diagnosing and maintaining the accuracy of ultrasound probes, ensuring the continued functionality of ultrasound systems in clinics and hospitals.

The redesign of the Ultrasound Probe Tester Device focuses on enhancing its appearance, usability, and brand identity. Simultaneously, the design allows for potential expansion into similar products within the same family. Manufacturing and assembly processes were reevaluated to streamline production and maintenance costs. A key objective of the design team was to minimize errors and facilitate secure, dependable connections between probes and adapters, thereby enhancing the speed and precision of the testing process.

The device’s adapter body design accommodates various adapter types, contributing to significant production cost reduction. The incorporation of magnets and a specialized adapter lock design ensures secure connections between adapters and the device, preventing accidental disconnection during the probe testing process.

    Product Design Challenges
Ensuring the device body’s strength and compliance with standard tests.
Developing a secure connection mechanism for adapters to prevent disconnection during testing.
Strategically placing port adapters to adhere to technical and electronic device limitations.
Enhancing device usability to reduce testing errors during probe assessments.
Designing a universal adapter approach suitable for all types, streamlining components.
