Not your average 28 year old, I'm obsessed with Music and Marketing. A lot of my friends call me J.Reed, and I’m an LA-based music producer, songwriter, and audio engineer turned digital marketer. After getting my associate's degree in 2020, I got my feet wet doing digital marketing and blog writing at a local web-design agency. I was promised 30 days temporary to hire at this position, and even though that didn't happen, I kept working this job since it was COVID... Fast forward to 2021, I made a huge post in a marketing thread on Reddit, and I was surprised to get a comment from the CEO & owner of a tech company in NJ 🙏🏼 After driving down from Virginia to South NJ for a second interview, I accepted the position and moved out of my parents. 1 year later, I got promoted from marketing associate to manager, but I left after the 2nd year to pursue music in LA; a hobby of mine that I'd taught myself, and I'd been practicing own since 2018. ☀️In December 2023, I rented a U-Haul and packed apartment into my 6-speed 2010 Civic with my Dad, and started driving across country! Our destination was Burbank, CA. The reason being, is I'd been accepted to go to ICON Collective's "Advanced Music Production Program" (18 months). I also applied and got accepted to Temple and Belmont, but unlike those programs, this program focused on hands-on training in the studio, and offered weekly 1-on-1 mentorship (every 12 weeks) with Grammy-Winning engineers, producers, and songwriters. ICON was also special because they would regularly bring industry-professionals to speak on campus. My favorite panel included Mark Mangini — Sound Editor for Dune!!! 🔥To this day, I still remember feeling very stupid when I talked with him after the event 🤣 After 1.5 years of doing more music, mixing, sound-design, music theory, songwriting, personal-branding, audio engineering, and mastering than I've ever done before, I graduated! 🔍 I’m now seeking marketing roles — especially in sync licensing, digital strategy, or artist marketing. Whether crafting compelling pitches or optimizing a release plan, I know how to move audiences and build momentum. I connect the creative with the commercial! 🎶 Unlike many marketers in the space, I’ve actually been producing, mixing, and writing music since 2018 — mentored along the way by Grammy-winning creators.
