    Functional & Operational Design

    Front-End Experience (POS & Tablet):

    The Mobile POS is a touch-first, companion POS optimized for 7–11″ tablets, streamlining table service (open, add items, move, split, pay). Items are captured fast via graphic icons, text search, menu numbers, and staff-specific Favorites. It supports rich modifier flows (extras, cooking instructions, serving course) and pre-order staging (submitting items in one batch).

    Billing and Transactions:
    Users can split bills (item-based or single checkout) and apply discounts. The system handles mixed payments (cash/card) and allows for Move Table functionality to reassign items.

    Management & Reporting:
    The Statistics Module is the “cornerstone of operational excellence”, providing End of Day results, detailed Item Statistics (including profit margin/markup percentage), and Month-to-Date analysis. Key data is visualized through four graphs: Sales Progress, Top 10 Items, Top 10 Categories, and Personnel Sales.

    Technical & Configurational Design

    Architecture (Mobile POS):
    The OlymPOS Tablet utilizes a modern stack: Frontend is built with React 18 + Vite and TypeScript, while the Backend uses Node.js/Express and connects to MySQL/MariaDB via Drizzle ORM models. It operates using ESM modules and can be deployed as a separate service connected to the same database as the Manager/Main POS.

    Configuration & Customization:
    The OlymPOS Manager controls core settings, including defining VAT percentages and configuring integration with official tax cash registers. It supports multiple languages for menus, labels, and receipts and manages various price catalogs (e.g., a takeaway catalog with a 25% price reduction).

    Security & Authorization:
    User access is granularly controlled. Each user is linked to a specific price catalog and a maximum discount percentage (e.g., 50%). The system uses Bearer sessions and ensures staff identity is enforced server-side for crucial data like pricing and favorites, preventing spoofing. Role/permission checks for discounts and manager actions are also performed server-side.
