I'm David Jones, a Senior Software (DevOps) Engineer with a real passion for building secure, scalable systems and I've got a soft spot for Python and data engineering. Over the years, I've found my niche at the intersection of security, cloud infrastructure, and automation, especially when it comes to wrangling data pipelines. Right now, I'm at Wish, where I've been since 2020. It's been a great place to dig into some meaty problems like ripping out old CloudFormation setups and rebuilding everything with Terraform modules, or getting our team set up with policy-as-code using Cloud Custodian to keep our cloud costs and security in check. I've also spent a lot of time working with threat intelligence schemas like STIX and TAXII, making sure our data pipelines play nice with industry standards. And lately? I've been tinkering with GenAI—things like LangChain and LlamaIndex—to see what kind of automation magic we can build into our cloud-native apps. Before Wish, I was at DoorDash as a DevOps Engineer. That role was a whirlwind in the best way—I helped bootstrap the observability team from scratch, built a multi-region metrics and alarming system on AWS, and even got to play around with RAG applications for document summarization (which was way cooler than it sounds). I also mentored a bunch of engineers, which is something I genuinely love doing. Even earlier, at FlyGuys, I was deep in the C# world—designing backend APIs, migrating entire systems to new Azure tenants, and building data architectures for field workers who needed their iOS apps to sync up seamlessly when they got back online. Good times. On the tech side, I'm comfortable across the board: AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, you name it. But I'm also a firm believer that tools are just tools—it's the problems you solve and the people you solve them with that really matter. I studied Computer Science at Texas State University, and I've been lucky enough to keep learning every day since. Happy to chat more about any of this—whether it's DevOps, security, data pipelines, or just swapping war stories about cloud migrations. Best, David
