paper Rossini Perduto - Opera in Three Acts, produced May 22, 2025 St Jeans Theatre, NY, NY

    Rossini Perduto production inclusivity

Rossini Perduto Is a new three-act opera by New York Composer David Winkler with a libretto by noted Italian author Luigi Ballerini. The work had its world premiere on May 22, 2025 at the St. Jeans Theatre in Manhattan. The principal sponsors of the production included Casa Italiana and the Italian Cultural institute in New York City. The work calls for 12 principal singers and a chorus of equal size.

The composer, producers and support staff, myself in collaboration with Teatro Grattacielo, are all proud of the inclusiveness of the project as we actively embrace a truly representative cast and company for the upcoming premiere in New York City.

Opera, by its very nature,  has a unique opportunity to provide platforms and opportunities for artists of every race, color and creed. As a new theatrical work, the opera will create an excellent ambience for a broad variety of performing artists providing them professional opportunities and career visibility in the media center which is New York. The cast for Rossini Perduto will include several principals each of Latin American descent as well as African and Caribbean American and Asian American descent.

Rossini Perduto cast members currently will include, amongst others :

Latin American - Maya Gonzalez, Clara Luz Ireneo, Pedro Barrera
