My mother influenced my passion for creative arts which includes Fashion design and Product development tailored towards solving real life challenges. It is my aspiration to have a brand that integrates elements of my cultural origins and reinterpret it in a more contemporary context, that boasts my roots in Africanism such as the distinct vibrant prints, the gritty urbanism, and a rich flamboyant personality. Fashion gives me the opportunity to learn and get better. My brand identification is Timeless styles that are simple and sophisticated, designed to be highly functional, yet not bland and boring. My style is subtle, adaptable and outlasts, from workwear to casual dresses and jumpsuits. The Business of Fashion course gave me a deep insight into keystone markup costing method, different Marketing and Advertising strategies through electronic and social media. I would like to work independently designing for boutiques, manufacturers and other fashion retailers, making people happy with the garments I make and create beauty in their lives. I will use the winnings from this scholarship to finance my Senior collection where this design was birthed.
