I am a part-time artist based in Dorset, UK. My practice spans oil, watercolour, pencil, ink, collage and digital media. I also draw on a background in teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages and in TV and film subtitle editing and checking. After a year studying Graphic Design at the University of the Arts, London, I discovered a love for digital art and design, while continuing to work in traditional media. This year I produced a large commission of 15 artworks for The Anvil Inn, Pimperne, as part of a refurbishment project. I had an ink drawing selected for the Sherborne Open Art Exhibition and completed several private portrait commissions. Although I have not illustrated professionally, I coordinated a magazine of refugee students’ stories and artwork as a teacher, and I would be delighted to contribute illustrations to a book.

paper Artwork for The Anvil Inn, Pimperne, Dorset

In spring, 2025, I was asked to create 15 artworks for a newly refurbished Inn, The Anvil, in Pimperne, Dorset, UK. Since the inn had a long history as a forge and already contained many old black-and-white photos of blacksmiths, horses and local village scenes, the manager suggested I create some works that would add a splash of colour and energy to the older works on the walls. He was completely changing the colour scheme in the inn and wanted to update the interior quite significantly. Knowing I was creating quite lot of digital work at that time, he took a look at some of my work, liked it and gave me a fairly free brief, apart from requesting some abstract artworks, which I added to the already eclectic mix of horses, farriers, maps, local wildlife and plants already on the walls. Most of the works were created digitally, but I also included a few watercolours and a collage. This was such an enjoyable project and I am so grateful to have been asked to do it. I feel as if I have my very own gallery of work not so far away from home and it was lovely to be able to contribute to the upgrade of such a beautiful old inn. paper Examples of artwork created for The Anvil Inn, Pimperne, Dorset

In spring, 2025, I was commissioned by Karl Bashford, of The Anvil Inn, Pimperne, to create 15 bespoke artworks for his newly refurbished Inn. I created works that we both felt would fit in with the history of the Inn as a blacksmith’s forge, such as an anvil, horses and farriers, as well as reflect the nature and wildlife of Dorset, in works featuring deer, fungi, flowers, and ammonites. For these artworks I used a mixture of media - watercolour, collage and digital. For more information on this and my other artwork, please see https://www.twine.net/signin or cuckoopintart on Instagram
