I am David Sagastume, a countertenor and cellist with a lifelong love for early music and vocal-instrumental collaboration. I have performed as a countertenor with prestigious groups such as the Ricercar Consort, La Cappella Mediterranea, and the Seville Baroque Orchestra, and it has been a great honor to be a member of the Capella Reial de Catalunya since 1998 under the direction of Jordi Savall. My cello playing is my deepest passion. I studied with teachers including Siegfried Palm and Laurentiu Sbarcea, and I have explored harpsichord, viola da gamba, chamber music, composition, and singing with R. Levitt and Carlos Mena. I have traveled the world with ensembles, performed at venues like the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall, and I am a founding member and director of Intonationes, which specializes in Hispanic polyphonic repertoire from the 16th and 17th centuries. I also work closely with Enrike Solins’ Euskal Barrokensemble and contribute to Alia Vox recordings.
