Christin Eve Cato (Playwright) is an award-winning playwright, published author, dramaturg, poet, educator, lyricist/songwriter, and performing artist from the vibrant streets of the Bronx. Cato’s artistic narrative is steeped in the rich tapestry of her New York City, Puerto Rican, and Jamaican roots. Her voice is distinguished for her ability to create character-driven and culturally specific stories that resonate universally with diverse audiences. Her stories explore existential themes of the human condition, often highlighting matriarchal dynamics, urban/inner-city lifestyles, social justice issues, and the lived experiences of the Afro-Caribbean diaspora. Recent productions in NYC include her 2025 HOLA Award-winning play , O.K.! (INTAR Theater); her 2024 Obie Award-generating play Sancocho (Off-Broadway debut @ the WP Theater); The Diamond (The People’s Theatre Project @ Pregones Theatre); American Made (Samuel French OOB Festival @ Playwrights Horizons); and an audio play journey, The Mayor of Hell’s Kitchen Presents: A Time Traveling Journey Through NYC’s Wild West (The Parsnip Ship & Playwrights Horizons). She has an MFA in Playwriting from Indiana University and a BA in Political Science and Philosophy from Fordham University. She also graduated as a vocal major from the “Fame School”- LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts.
