I have worked professionally as a graphic designer and creative since 1995, following, in total, three years of full-time tertiary training. I hold an Associate Diploma of Graphic Design and Advertising. Beginning as a junior in Adelaide, I worked my way steadily upwards and into more senior roles, eventually moving to Sydney in 2003 where I worked in mid-weight and senior designer capacities until finally settling a few years later in Brisbane, where I've worked in Senior Designer, Art Director and Creative Director roles since. I have worked across a broad range of design disciplines, including print design (annual reports, yearbooks, magazines, brochures, books, flyers, press ads), creative and art direction (strategy, project planning and job management, team and studio management, creative consultation, photo shoots), branding (strategy, naming, architecture, visual identity, style guides, workshops), digital (website front-end UI design, fully interactive prototypes in XD and Figma, social media, web ads, basic animation), and signage (environmental, outdoor, wayfinding, exhibition displays, retail, packaging, FMCG, POS). Although my skillset doesn't extend to back-end web development/coding, I do have plenty of experience working with back-end developers and have produced complete and fully interactive prototypes for clients using applications such as Adobe XD and Figma. I have worked both as part of a team and in an autonomous capacity for various small and medium-sized studios, and in my last role, I balanced the duties of creative director, designer, production manager, account manager and client liaison. As with this and in previous roles, my experience extended to studio workflow and team management, client liaison (including quoting, project briefing and management of project deliverables), supplier briefing and management (printers, developers, etc). I have also internally worked both directly and indirectly with, for and alongside various studio owners, stakeholders, business partners, associates and their staff. In my last role as Creative Director, I had been working with a small team of designers and developers. In this role, I would regularly provide advice and guidance, with the managing director, the design team, and developers, with feedback often collected, refined and forwarded as suggestions or comments to clients when relevant. I've often found working with or within a team to be a fulfilling, inspiring and rewarding experience. There is always something new to learn, and I believe that constructive and open input should always be encouraged during the creative process. When and where appropriate, and on top of my general daily duties, I also to take an active interest in studio and business development.
