Francis is a writer / film director whose work sits at the intersection of narrative fiction and cinéma vérité. With over two decades of experience, he has directed fiction films, docu-drama, and corporate reels for broadcasters, cultural institutions, and public agencies. His work for Channel News Asia and Our Better World reflects a sustained interest in storytelling that foregrounds character, ethical complexity, and social realism.
His fiction and poetry have been published in literary journals and presented at the ASEAN Writers’ Conference, and Singapore Writers Festival, while his screen work has received international recognition, including a Silver Award from Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), multiple festival selections across Europe and Asia, and developmental support from platforms such as TorinoFilmLab and Singapore Film Commission’s Feature Film Clinic. His feature project Borderland received minority co-production funding from the Estonian Film Institute.
Alongside his creative practice, Francis teaches story ideation, screenwriting, and narrative development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
