Hello, I am Helena Lopes, a documentary filmmaker, content creator, and training professional focused on storytelling that connects people with memory, heritage, and identity. As director of Trapézio and MediaShots, I develop concepts, produce content, and lead workshops, blending participatory methods with digital formats to build meaningful online presences for social, cultural, and educational projects.
Throughout my career I have authored and co-authored documentary films and books, including A Companha do João da Murtosa, which won several international awards. I am also the co-author of the documentary book A Safra and the traveling exhibition Arte Xávega: Fishing the Great Sandy Shore. My journalism work spans O Independente, Visão in the USA, and freelance contributions for various outlets, earning recognition such as the Portuguese Press Club’s 1st Journalism Breakthrough Award. I enjoy mapping heritage, memory, and identity through people’s stories and working across Europe in film, education, and community projects.
