Hello! I’m Nino Raphael, a Manchester-based artist, composer and theatre-maker. After completing my MFA (CP) in Theatre with a focus on Ensemble Directing at Victoria University of Wellington (NZ), I’ve been freelancing full-time as an artist and educator since 2023. I’m a multi-instrumentalist who confidently plays piano, guitar, ukulele, and bass, and I frequently weave music into my theatre work. With more than a decade in theatre, I’ve collaborated with actors and singers to create new works and performances that fuse sound and storytelling.
In the last few years I’ve directed community and tertiary-education projects, coached voices, and written and composed music for theatre — including an interactive children’s musical with sold-out seasons. I’ve also led community choirs such as Vocal Blokes and WoSoSi. I love mentoring young performers, building collaborative repertoires across genres, and exploring how music can deepen theatre experiences.
I currently lead the Manchestre Glee Choir, lead one-on-one vocal coaching in my private studio and professionally write and arrange music for artists and choirs.
