    Illustration Team
Context / Brief Kulturhaus Schlossstrasse 5 in Münsingen needed team portraits for their website. Solution / Approach The portraits were created as a cohesive illustrated series, giving the team a consistent visual presence online. Result Portraits live on the website, alongside a flyer presenting the Kulturhaus and its open workshops to the public. MÁGICO — Mezcal Bottle Label
Context / Brief A new product line of the Mexican mezcal "Hermoso y Desconocido" — a cannabis-infused variety — required a new bottle label. I had previously designed the original logo for this brand. Solution / Approach A tipsy jaguar amid agave plants was chosen as the central motif. In Mexican culture, the jaguar carries deep symbolic weight — strength, courage, and a connection to the underworld — which aligns with the dual nature of the product: handcrafted and mind-altering. Result A bottle label that extends the brand world and gives the new product a distinct visual identity — produced as a screen print for both label and shirt. Klett Verlag — Collages for Educational Material
Context / Brief Klett Verlag commissioned illustrations for a new edition of the German-language teaching resource "Die Sprachstarken". The starting point was a specific story text from the book. Solution / Approach The illustrations were made as hand-cut collages from various papers — a technique that gives the material a tactile, non-digital visual language. Where necessary, elements were composited digitally to meet the publisher's print requirements. Result A series of collage illustrations developed directly from the narrative text, published as an image sequence in the new edition. Door Frame Boxing Club Basel — Porcelain Tiles
Context / Brief The Boxing Club Basel is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The brief called for a permanent visual intervention at the entrance that marks the occasion. Solution / Approach Hand-crafted porcelain tiles using sgraffito technique: a cobalt blue slip is applied to white porcelain, then selectively scratched away with a sharp tool to reveal the surface beneath. The image is created by removal, not addition — resulting in a relief-like drawing. Every three tiles stacked vertically depict a boxing scene; together they form a vertical panorama featuring boxers from the club. Result A hand-made tile frame measuring 215 × 118 cm at the club entrance — permanent, site-specific, and rooted directly in the club's own history. CD Booklet — El Artesano del Son
Context / Brief Mexican band "El Artesano del Son" needed illustrations for the booklet of their upcoming album. Solution / Approach The images were created as a direct response to the individual tracks — not as decorative afterthoughts, but as independent visual interpretations. The work was produced using analogue printmaking techniques at the artist residency "La Ceiba Gráfica" in Veracruz: lithography, linocut, and screen printing. Result A set of hand-printed illustrations used throughout the CD booklet, adding a visual dimension to the music that aligns with the band's artisanal aesthetic. Play Rug — Matthäus Quarter, Basel
Context / Brief The Kulturhaus Union in Basel wanted a play rug for their neighbourhood meeting point — designed with and through the local children, not merely for them. Solution / Approach Children explored their neighbourhood through drawing: what matters to them, which places hold meaning, what they would show someone visiting for the first time. This was paired with observational walks and an introduction to cartography — what maps reveal about perception, power, and reality. Result A 282 × 200 cm play rug serving as a large-format map of the neighbourhood at the Union community space — created through the eyes and hands of the children who live there. Services / Tags Participatory design · Workshop facilitation · Illustration · Digitisation · Compositing · Print preparation Medium / Tools Children's drawings (analogue) · Photoshop · Large-format print · 282 × 200 cm Date / Location 2026, Basel, Switzerland spacialdesign rug graphicdesigner illustrator
Logo Relaunch Mezcal — Hermoso y Desconocido
Context / Brief The Mexican mezcal brand "Hermoso y Desconocido" from Oaxaca already had an established single-colour logo. The task was to develop a colour version for use on stickers, textiles, and promotional materials. Solution / Approach Rather than replacing the existing logo, it was extended — the colour version was developed to remain compatible with the original and speak the same visual language. Result A colour logo variant was created that broadens the brand system into new applications without diluting its existing identity.
