I was born in Novo mesto, in what was then Yugoslavia, and I make adventurous jazz and improvised music with groups like Innertextures and the Igor Lumpert Quartet. My work blends improvisation with composition, and I've toured across Europe and North America, releasing albums on Clean Feed Records and collaborating with many remarkable players. In addition to performing, I teach saxophone, improvisation, and ensemble playing through workshops and schools, including Jazzinty and the New School.
