I'm Ángel Barat de Llanos, a Spanish composer and pianist specializing in scoring for visual media. Born in 1994, I’m internationally oriented and trained in Spain and the United States. I’ve collaborated with award-winning professionals such as Eva Gancedo (1x Goya Winner), Zacarías M. de la Riva, and Caco Refojo (5x Latin Grammy winner). My music has been performed by orchestras across Europe, North America, and Latin America. In 2023 I received the RTVE Award for Best Original Score for Calle Dos, and in 2024 I earned second prize at the Cleveland 48 Hour Film Project. I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Composition at Kent State University (2023–2025) and a Master’s in Composition for Visual Media with Katarina Gurska in Madrid (2021–2022). I also hold a Bachelor’s in Music (Composition & Piano) from the Conservatorio Superior Salvador Seguí in Castellón (2016–2022) and a Master’s in Education from Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera (2020–2021). As a freelance composer for media and performing arts, I collaborate with ensembles, festivals, and film projects, including the Cleveland Orchestra and Pro-Bandas Latinoamérica. I also teach composition and music theory at Kent State University.
