Hi, I'm Melissa Parhm, an interdisciplinary artist and educator based in Mill Valley, California. I hold an MFA in Fine Arts from SCAD and a background in psychology, and I blend classical technique with a contemporary, trauma-informed approach. My practice weaves metalpoint, egg tempera, fresco and fiber sculpture with architectural inquiry, exploring how art can strategically rearrange the natural world. I’m committed to inclusive studio environments where skill, choice, and personal agency coexist. In teaching and collaboration, I design curricula that connect ecological art, sustainability, and traditional methods with hands-on projects. I’ve mentored students from elementary through high school, organized exhibitions, and contributed to conservations and public-facing projects. I believe art is a vehicle for community connection and personal growth.
